Privacy Policy

QuoteLawn ("we", "us", "our") connects homeowners with independent lawn-care providers in their area. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

By using QuoteLawn, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Who this applies to

This policy covers two groups of users:

• Customers — homeowners who use QuoteLawn to request a quote, schedule service, or pay the $15 scheduling deposit.
• Providers — lawn-care professionals who create a QuoteLawn account to receive booking leads.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

• Customers: name, email address, mobile phone number, service address, lawn measurements (drawn on a map), service selections, optional notes for the provider, and payment details (handled by Square — see section 4).
• Providers: business name, contact name, email, phone, password (stored as a bcrypt hash, never in plaintext), business slug, optional logo, service pricing, service areas (cities you serve).

2.2 Information collected automatically

• IP address, user-agent, request timing (used for rate-limiting and abuse prevention).
• Authentication cookies (provider accounts) — see section 7.
• Property boundary and parcel data fetched from third-party mapping providers when you enter your address.

2.3 Information from third parties

When you enter your address, we may query parcel/property-boundary data from Realie and map imagery from Google Maps to help you draw your lawn area accurately.

3. How we use information

• Provide the service: match you with a provider, generate a quote, and process your $15 scheduling deposit.
• Send transactional communications by email and SMS — booking confirmations, refund-request links, provider updates, decline notifications, and review requests.
• Manage refunds within the 30-day refund window.
• Improve and secure the service: rate limiting, fraud prevention, debugging, analytics in aggregate.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

4. Payment processing (Square)

Card payments are processed by Square, Inc. We do not see or store your full card number, CVV, or expiration date. Square sends us a token and, after a successful charge, a payment ID and the amount charged. Square's privacy practices are described at squareup.com/legal/privacy.

5. SMS / text messaging

5.1 What we send

Customers may receive:

• Booking deposit confirmation — once your $15 deposit is received, including your refund-management link.
• Provider confirmation — when your provider accepts the booking.
• Refund / decline notifications — when a refund is issued or a provider declines.
• Reassignment notifications — when we match you with a different provider.
• Review requests — after your service is marked complete, a one-time link inviting you to leave a review.

Providers may receive:

• New lead notifications — when a customer books in your service area.
• Account alerts — when account status changes (e.g. account locked due to decline thresholds).
• Operational updates — system messages relevant to active bookings, password resets, or platform-wide changes that affect your account.

QuoteLawn does not send marketing or promotional SMS to either customers or providers.

5.2 Consent and opt-in

You provide your mobile number on the customer booking form and check an SMS-consent box adjacent to the phone-number field; both are required to enroll. Providers consent the same way at signup. The consent box is unchecked by default and the form will not submit until it is explicitly checked.

Consent is logged on the server with the timestamp (UTC), originating IP address, and the exact disclosure text shown to you at the moment of consent. This audit log allows us to reproduce the consent record on request.

Your mobile number is only used for the SMS purposes described in section 5.1 and is not used for marketing.

5.3 Opt-out

Reply STOP, END, QUIT, CANCEL, or UNSUBSCRIBE to any SMS to opt out. You will receive one final confirmation message that no further messages will be sent. To opt back in, reply START.

5.5 Carrier fees and supported carriers

Message and data rates may apply per your wireless plan. Carriers (including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others) are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported in the United States only.

5.6 SMS data is never sold or used for marketing by third parties

Mobile information you share with QuoteLawn — including your phone number — will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information will only be shared with subprocessors that help us deliver SMS (e.g., Twilio) and only as needed to deliver the messages described in section 5.1.

6. Who we share your information with

We share information only to operate the service:

• Your assigned provider: name, contact email/phone, service address, lawn measurements, service selections, and notes — so they can fulfill your booking.
• Square (payment processor): the data needed to authorize and refund the $15 deposit.
• Twilio (SMS subprocessor): your phone number and the message body, only to deliver transactional SMS.
• Zoho Mail (email infrastructure): your email address and message body to deliver transactional emails.
• Google Maps / Realie: address strings used to look up parcel/map data; subject to their respective privacy policies.
• Service providers and contractors that help us host, maintain, and secure the platform, all bound by confidentiality obligations.
• Legal compliance: if required by law, subpoena, or to protect QuoteLawn, our users, or others.

We do not sell your personal information.

7. Cookies

QuoteLawn uses two cookies, both first-party and HttpOnly:

• ql_token — provider authentication session, expires after 7 days.
• ql_admin — internal admin session, used only by QuoteLawn staff.

We do not use third-party advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies.

8. Data retention

• Bookings and payment records: retained for accounting and legal purposes, typically 7 years.
• Provider account data: retained while your account is active; deleted on request after 30 days.
• SMS / email logs: typically retained 12–24 months for delivery troubleshooting and abuse prevention.

9. Your rights and choices

You can:

• Access your data — email info@quotelawn.com.
• Correct inaccuracies — providers can edit profile data in the dashboard; customers can email us.
• Delete your account / data — email info@quotelawn.com; we will honor deletion within 30 days, retaining only what is required for legal/accounting purposes.
• Opt out of SMS by replying STOP (see section 5.3).
• Opt out of email by replying or following the unsubscribe link where available; transactional emails about an active booking are not opt-out.

Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Tennessee, Indiana, Nebraska, New Jersey, Delaware, New Hampshire, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Rhode Island, and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws have additional rights including the right to request a copy of personal information we hold and the right to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" (we do neither). 10. Security and breach notification

We protect your data with TLS encryption in transit, bcrypt password hashing, server-side rate limiting, HttpOnly session cookies, and least-privilege access controls. No system is perfect — if you suspect a security issue, email info@quotelawn.com.

In the event of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users without undue delay, consistent with applicable state and federal breach-notification laws. Notice will describe what happened, what information was involved, and what we are doing in response.

11. Children

QuoteLawn is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
